InfraGard Overview
InfraGard, originated in 1996 and sponsored by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, is a cooperative association of business and industrial concerns, academic institutions, military agencies, and Federal, state and local government and law enforcement agencies all dedicated to ensuring the integrity of computer systems and Information Technology (IT) critical to the United States security interests.
The purpose and primary objective of InfraGard is to increase the security of the United States national infrastructures through ongoing exchanges of information relevant to computer systems security; and, through education, outreach, and similar efforts, to increase awareness of infrastructure protection issues.
The goal of InfraGard is to enable information exchange among members. The intent is that owners and operators of key infrastructures can better protect their own interests, and the United States government can better discharge its law enforcement and national security responsibilities.
Special Interest Groups (SIG)
The InfraGard Program is pleased to announce the creation of Special Interest Groups (SIG). SIGs are resources dedicated to the safeguarding of specific critical infrastructures of both private industry and government through information-sharing networks and a private secure portal of communication. Currently, the Research Technology Protection InfraGard, Chemical InfraGard and Food-Agriculture InfraGard SIGs are available to all InfraGard members who have an affiliation with the respective sector.
